Ecoprinting: Silk Scarf

Ecoprinting, or botanical contact printing, is a contemporary adaptation of the ancient tradition of colouring fabric with plant material. By compressing foliage against cloth and applying heat, the shape and pigment of the leaves can be permanently imprinted onto cloth, producing fascinatingly delicate and detailed designs.

During this workshop you will work with sample fabric to learn the technique, and then progress to printing a beautiful silk scarf to take home with you. Foliage will be provided from Winterbourne and a ready prepared blank silk scarf is included. You will learn everything you need to continue practising this fascinating craft at home.
