Dorothy dreams she is in Oz, meeting the Tin Man, Lion and Scarecrow. Their adventure takes them along the yellow brick road, meeting colourful characters along the way including the Munchkins and the Wicked Witch.

Featuring classic songs Follow the Yellow Brick Road, We're Off to See the Wizard and the delightful Somewhere Over the Rainbow, this show is a must for all the family.

There will be a pre-show meal ticket available for a sit down meal in the Studio prior to the show on Thurs 20 June. Please ask for details at Box Office.

Opening on Wednesday 19th June, traders from around the world will be resident until Sunday 23rd June 2013. Shoppers of Solihull will have the opportunity to shop for items from all over the world as our Global traders travel from all corners of the world, bringing an array of products typical of their region offering a truly unique experience not to be missed.

Meats of the World will be offering a range of exotic meats from Ostrich, Impala, Crocodile, and wild Boar. Island Spice Grill shall be offering a variety of tasty Jerk chicken, quorn, Veggie wraps, mutton, lamb dishes and more.

Our Italian traders will be bringing Italian Biscotti, cakes and Soft Nougat and Jimmy Bean will be there with his large selection of rich flavoured coffee beans (ground to your liking) along with his large selection of exotic loose leaf teas. KAKE-DOH will be serving Solihull their unique and tasty Chimney Cakes with a great variety of toppings.

Our Traditional German Schwenkgrill has some tasty Bratwurst Sausage as Crepes Temptation bring French Crepes and Galettes and some tasty Brussels Waffles. The Cheese Board shall be offering a great variety and selection of cheeses from around the world, crackers, jams and chutneys, while the Welsh Hog Roast have their gorgeous rare breed hog roast.

A spokesperson for Market Place has expressed the excitement for this event, “Our traders shall be offering Solihull a selection of flavours from all across the globe. It shall definitely be the place to be!”

But it’s not just about food in fact we have something for all the family including Lapponia all the way from Finland bringing beautiful Traditional Finnish Artisanry, wool, linen clothing and reindeer hides. The very popular Flying Dutchman shall also be visiting the city with their Dutch Market Garden selling a huge array of plants, shrubs, trees and bulbs.

Castaneda will be bringing a variety of Native American Handicraft such as traditional dream catchers and musical instruments and hand embroidered linen tops. G and G Global Gifts Collection shall be presenting a great selection of wooden furniture, carvings and figurines all Fair Trade and ecologically sourced.

The Dice House is a black comedy by Paul Lucas, inspired by Luke Rhinehart’s ‘The Dice Man’ – it explores the nature and limitations of free will.

Dr Ratner, a psychiatrist, uses ‘Dice Therapy’, a process by which patients are encouraged to make all decisions based on the whim of a dice.

Feuding psychiatrist Dr Drabble’s wife has run away from him and is now resident in The Dice House.

In order to ‘rescue’ his wife, Dr Drabble attempts to kidnap his wife from The Dice House, using another psychiatric patient acting as his proxy, which leads to unforseen conquences.

In a dramatic climax, the fate of both doctors is determined by a single roll of the dice.

In a village deep in the mountains, two young people, Giselle and Loys, are deeply in love. But Loys has not been truthful with his beloved. He is actually Count Albrecht, son of the local lord, and is already betrothed to Bathilde, a lady, and his social equal.

When jealous Hilarion, a rival for Giselle’s hand, proves who Loys really is, and Bathilde arrives to claim her fiancé, the heartbreak is too much to bear. Driven mad by despair, Giselle takes her own life.

After her funeral, a sorrowful Albrecht visits her grave, but it is night and he is in terrible danger. The bitter ghosts of jilted brides rise and condemn him to dance himself to death. Only Giselle’s love, powerful enough to reach from beyond the grave, can save him; she must keep him safe until dawn breaks and he can escape, but dawn is many hours away...

With music by one of the 19th-century’s great ballet composers, Adolphe Adam, Giselle stands alongside Coppélia and Swan Lake as one of the most celebrated classical ballets. David Bintley and Galina Samsova’s stunning production, clad in gorgeous designs by Hayden Griffin, stays true to the classical spirit and steps of the original.

Gilbert’s satire remains sharp and pertinent as it pokes fun at the aristocracy and the relationships between them and their servants and local folk. This ‘upstairs, downstairs’ situation will strike a chord with audiences of all ages.

Building on the momentum of important anniversaries in 2012 (Fredrick Delius's 150th of birth; John Ireland's 50th of death), this Festival also acknowledges in 2013 the Benjamin Britten Centenary, the 25th anniversary of the death of Denis Matthews and the 60th anniversary of the death of Sir Arnold Bax.

Yu-Fen Lin graduated from Birmingham Conservatoire’s MMus course with Distinction in 2012. She has since been studying on our flagship Professional Performance programme which supports outstanding performers at the start of their careers. This evening’s performance marks the culmination of her postgraduate studies at the Conservatoire.
