NTI Shakespeare - Showcase Night	, 14 Jun 2012

14 Jun 2012 - Theatre at The Old Joint Stock

After a month of slaving away with quill and parchment, the actors and writers of the first NTI Workshop Cycle - NTI Shakespeare - present their labours in a showcase night of Shakespeare-inspired new work.

As with all of the NTI showcase nights, the teams will present their work to the general public, and at the end of the evening the audience will be asked to vote on the best piece of the night and offer any feedback to the teams.

But it's not all competitive - in keeping with the spirit of the NTI Scheme, all competing teams will be offered a generous support package to further develop and perform a full version of their work at the Old Joint Stock Theatre in the future.

We hope you can join us for a truly collaborative evening of new writing at the Old Joint Stock Theatre!

The Miller's Tale With The Songs Of Bob Dylan , 23 Jun 2012

23 Jun 2012 - Theatre at The Old Joint Stock

A musical comedy of Chaucer's '14th Century Carry-on', told by England's oldest song and dance man, the Miller.

Yes, the very Miller that rode out of London on the pilgrimage to Canterbury...

These days he recites his poem, dances around his broomstick, sings the songs of Bob Dylan and wears an interesting collection of hats. It's definitely six centuries of separation. While keeping close to the original poetry, the Miller is almost fluent in modern English and understandably bonkers!

Frank Bramwell's celebrated retelling of Shakespeare's classic comes to the Old Joint Stock Theatre for its first revival as part of the OJST Alternative Shakespeare Festival, 18-28 July 2012.

The most famous lovers in history pick up where they thought they’d left off – literally. Reunited, with the help of their very (very) ‘ghostly father’ Friar Laurence, they are given one ‘borrowed’ hour. One small hour to put right the mistakes of their earlier life – or face oblivion.

And she’s dead. Plenty enough problems, it seems, for her to have to deal with.

Unfortunately, to add to her dilemma, Prince Hamlet and King Claudius, her two companions, both seem dead set on putting right the wrongs of their previous existences. Whatever that cost might be.
