Sweeney Todd, 29 Apr 2013 - 4 May 2013

29 Apr 2013 - 4 May 2013 - Theatre at Solihull Arts Complex

When it's funny, it's very funny and when it's dark, it's very, very dark! This is the tale of Sweeney Todd - one moment you are enveloped in impending doom and another you are laughing at Sondheim's fantastic script.

Set in Victorian England, Sweeney Todd returns to London having been wrongly imprisoned for 15 years for a crime he did not commit. The former barber wants cold revenge against the corrupt judge who framed him, murdered his wife, and stole his daughter to raise as his own. Teaming up with the dazzlingly demented Mrs Lovett, a struggling baker, the "demon barber of Fleet Street" cooks up a hilariously macabre revenge that fulfils both their needs in very unexpected ways!

Comedy, tragedy, romance and madness intersect brilliantly in this Sondheim favourite, which won eight 1979 Tony Awards - including Best Musical.

Performed by Solihull On Stage
