Raymond Mearns, Dave Williams, Mark Olver, Rob Deering , 13 Jul 2012

13 Jul 2012 - Comedy at Highlight

Larger than life and twice as much fun, Raymond Mearns is one of the most experienced performers in the United Kingdom and beyond - and still one of the hardest working. Having earned his spurs hosting comedy nights at some of the most improbable venues in the country, Raymond is now a much sought after compere. He regularly hosts nights at some of the biggest Comedy Clubs in the and he has headlined at the prestigious New York Underground Comedy Festival. Outside of his hosting duties, his natural rapport with an audience and unerring ability to work a gag have made him one of the most popular solo acts, capable of producing a tightly structured set but with a remarkably free-flowing style.

Raymond's appetite for performing is rivalled only by his appetite for hot pies. Since starting his career in Glasgow's infamous Comedy Cellar, (then hosted by one Ed Byrne), Raymond has gobbled up the gigs, including a highly successful tour of the Scottish Highlands, playing to every type of crowd in every type of venue. The result is that he is now one of the most adaptable of all comedians, as quick with his brain as he is with his tongue and ready to dish out a bellyfull of laughs to hungry audiences everywhere. Raymond is also an accomplished actor having appeared on both stage and screen, working with top British director Ken Loach in the critically acclaimed films Ae Fond Kiss and It's A Free World and putting in a memorable performance in the BAFTA Award winning short film Home.
