An Evening with Jimmy Webb

Delve into the charm and the tales of a master of their trade: an evening with the virtuosic, multi-Grammy Award winner, Jimmy Webb. Renowned as a pioneer of songwriting, the American composer and singer is coming to the UK to perform his iconic tracks and immerse audience’s with the captivating stories of how these songs came to be. With hits such as, ‘Wichita Lineman,’ ‘Up, Up and Away,’ ‘Galveston,’ and, ‘MacArthur Park,’ Webb is the only artist ever to receive Grammy Awards for music, lyrics and orchestration and has been influencing popular music for over five decades. Webb’s songs have been performed by Frank Sinatra, Glenn Campbell, Donna Summer, R.E.M, Barbra Streisand, Guns ’N’ Roses and so many more. Since beginning as a Motown composer, Webb continuously challenges and transcends his artistic palette. From exploring projects such as his classical nocturne with Orchestra Kentucky in 2016 to premiering a rap hit with Kanye West (‘Do What You Gotta do,’ is a central hook in, ‘Famous,’) Webb is also an author and a poet, whose memoirs in ‘The Cake and Rain,’ in 2017 bring to life his distinctive career. Since becoming the youngest member to ever be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and being listed as one of the Top 50 songwriters of all time by Rolling Stone in 2016, Webb continues to write and record today. He has released ten solo albums alongside his compositions for other artists and in 2019, he released a collection of piano interpretations of contemporary classics on his album, ‘Slip Cover,’ which featured Billy Joel and Randy Newman. An Evening with Jimmy Webb invites fans to experience and re-connect with their favourite songs in a new and profound way as he reveals his, often humorous, stories about his work with the greats such as Glen Campbell, Linda Ronstadt and Art Garfunkel. “A night with Jimmy at the keys is not unlike getting to hear George Gershwin or Cole Porter live. It’s hard to believe one guy could have written all these amazing songs… if you get a chance to see him live, grab it.” - Paul Solo, American Songwriter Magazine
