Stephen Kovacevich is a legend: a commanding presence on the international concert platform for over half a century. The works of Beethoven and Brahms have always been at the centre of his repertoire, and his powerful performances of their music continue to grow in stature. The Brahms pieces in this recital are amongst the composer’s greatest: the two Intermezzi lyrical and wistful, and the remaining works stormy, passionate and sonorous.
