What Does it Mean to be Human in the 21st Century? A Day of Debates
In a day of debate and discussion from 10am to 4.30pm, , we look at what it means to be human in the 21st century. We've brought together some superb speakers from around the country to debate:
- Transhumanism - The belief that we should aspire to transcend certain limiting elements of our biology and nature. What does this mean for the past, present and future of humanity?
- Spirituality - Can we be spiritual without religion? Now we are freed up from the monopoly religion enjoyed over the human spirit, can we plumb the depths of human existence in new and genuinely fulfilling ways?
- Sacrifice - Previous generations saw thousand upon thousands of men sign up to risk their lives for a greater cause. Is this self-sacrificing impetus still with us, or does the idea of sacrifice need to be renewed?
