Schoenberg - Pierrot Lunaire

A rare opportunity to hear and see Schoenberg's iconic modernist music theatre masterpiece Pierrot Lunaire. Described as the "solar plexus of modern music", this will be a semi-staged performance by Birmingham Conservatoire students, conducted by Julian Jacobson whose association with the piece - as pianist, conductor and reciter - dates back to the 1970s.

Pierrot Lunaire is preceded by a very special performance in which John O'Gallagher and Hans Koller, described in the Guardian as 'two heavyweight theoreticians fizzing with jazz heat,' join forces with 4th year Conservatoire jazz students Sam Ingvorsen and Gwilym Jones in new arrangements of compositions by Schoenberg and his pupil Webern.
