The Last 5 Years

This two hander musical, written by Jason Robert Brown follows a doomed relationship from start to finish and from finish to start.

Cathy, (Laura Poyner) an actress tells her story in reverse, from the painful breakup to the excitement of first meeting a new lover. Jamie, (Dean Bayliss) a writer, moves through the relationship chronologically, describing the rush of finding ‘the one’ to the inevitable strains individual success and ambition can bring.

Imaginary Friend Theatre Co are developing a reputation for producing innovative and interesting pieces of musical theatre, such as You’re A Good Man , Charlie Brown and [title of show], favoring the collaborative nature of working with small casts and the opportunity to produce seldom seen pieces of theatre.

The Last 5 Years looks to be our most intimate production to date, with just two performers the show is humorous and insightful with an honest and poignant score. This is a modern day love story with a twist.
