It is fifteen years – which is far too long – since we last devoted a day to Jane Austen’s final (and best?) novel. Naval matters, marriages, social aspirations and rivalry between sisters are the frame for a focus upon the pernicious effects of over-persuasion with deeply-felt emotional consequences before a happy resolution.
