Tony Leahy: From the teaching of Kheti to the Book of Thoth: on becoming a scribe in ancient Egypt

Tony Leahy is a historian who taught all things Egyptian – history, archaeology, language, culture and religion – at the University of Birmingham for many years. At different times, he has also been Honorary Secretary of the Egypt Exploration Society and editor of the Journal of Egyptian Archaeology. He has excavated at numerous sites in Egypt, including Amarna, Balamun, Malqata and Saqqara, and in many museums around the world. His main research interest has always been Egypt in the first millennium BC, something that retirement now allows him to indulge.
