Study Day – Reclaiming the Classics
The freshness of Emily Wilson’s translation of the Odyssey in 2017 and the vigour of Donna Zuckerberg’s Not All Dead White Men (2018) will be the basis for an exploration of how writers such as Margaret Atwood, Pat Barker, Emily Hauser, Natalie Haynes, Ursula Le Guin, Madeline Miller and Alice Oswald have rejected those traditional, easy and long-held assumptions that classical writers endorse male superiority and patriarchy.
