Beethoven’s Eroica symphony changed music forever. It’s music of revolution: breathless, bold and crackling with an electricity that still sets hairs on end today. Under the young Birmingham-born conductor Jamie Phillips, it’ll be a thrilling climax to a concert that opens deep in Sibelius’s winter night – and features the superb English tenor Toby Spence in Britten’s atmospheric Nocturne.
