A musical fable of Broadway based on a story and characters of Damon Runyon

Music and lyrics by FRANK LOESSER Book by JO SWERLING and ABE BURROWS

This amateur production is presented by arrangement with JOSEF WEINBERGER LTD. on behalf of MUSIC THEATRE INTERNATIONAL of NEW YORK.

Guys and Dolls is one of the most popular American musicals of all time. Based on the stories of gamblers and showgirls by Damon Runyon and set on the vibrant streets of Broadway, the show is a wonderful comic tale of New York’s low life and the missionaries trying to save their souls.

Alcester Musical Theatre Company presents this classic musical following the stories of some these characters such as Sergeant Sarah Brown, of the Save a Soul Mission, vainly trying to spread the Word, and make a difference to the sin and depravity all around.

Adelaide, the showgirl, who is desperate to leave behind her seemingly glamorous lifestyle for a white picket fence and roses round the door with her reluctant fiancé of 14 years Nathan Detroit.

Mr Detroit meanwhile is trying to find yet another new location for his floating dice game and the $1000 required to secure it, while keeping just one short step ahead of the law.

There’s the gamblers themselves, eager for just one more roll, for that winning streak which will keep them ahead of the game.

And the coolest, highest roller of them all, Sky Masterson, who would bet on anything that would turn him a profit, even love.

These lively, colourful characters and funny, beautiful songs including the well known Luck Be A Lady, I’ve Never Been In Love Before and Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat, makes Guys and Dolls the must see show in town this Autumn!
