The Lost Films of World War 2

An illustrated talk by television programme maker, David Parker

From the outbreak of war in 1939 to its bitter conclusion in 1945 a few men and women in Britain and remarkably, Germany, managed to film war as it came to their cities, towns and villages. Some soldiers took their film cameras to the battle font, and captured the horror of war as it unfolded before their eyes. Others captured the nightmare of blitz, and the hardships of bombing.

David Parker spent years collecting many of these films that had been forgotten for decades and in this illustrated talk he will use clips (some of them, even years later, distressing to watch) to reveal war as it was seen through the film cameras of ordinary men and women caught up in the most extraordinary times.
