Central Library - the debate takes off

Birmingham Central Library by Perry Roberts

Following on from yesterday's activities, Jon Bounds has an expanded version of his article in what he calls the Post proper - the print version.

Joanna Geary picked up on this and it certainly is an interesting turn of phrase. How long before the online version of The Birmingham Post is regarded as the proper version?

It's fantastic that the Birmingham Post has run with this. The more people get involved in this debate the better and The Post can really help with that.

Finally, Jon has created a collection of links, both for and against, which I encourage you all to browse.

NOTE: Just like yesterday, the image above is by Perry Roberts and you can buy prints from the Ikon Gallery. Do you really want to knock this down? This is a fantastic image that, to my eyes at least, pretty much makes the case for keeping the Central Library all on it's own!

UPDATE: Amongst Jons Delicious links there's an absolute gem - a video of architect Jon Madin talking to Adrian Goldberg about how the building 'just needs finishing'. Embedded below for your delectation.

I do love the print too, in fact I nearly bought it yesterday online — the postage put me off, I shall pop into the gallery shop to see if you can buy it offline.

Yeah, that's a lot of postage to travel a couple of miles. Nevertheless I've bitten the bullet and ordered it. If I waited to get round to looking 'offline' it'd never get bought!

In the interests of fairness, here's another anti-piece from Terry Grimley.
