Creepy Valentine's Classics: An Alternative Evening

Are you fed up of roses and kittens and pink woollen mittens dominating the Feast of St Valentine? Are you a non-romantic keen to hear stories of just how horribly wrong a romantic relationship can go? Are you a romantic with different tastes to the norm? Then this event is for you!

Join us for a pair of ancient Anti-Valentine’s ghost stories, told in the spooky atmosphere of the Coffin Works. These Greco-Roman tales have romantic relationships in them, sure, but all does not end well for these star-crossed lovers – not least because at least one partner is dead all along.

These ancient ghost stories will be dramatically re-told by storyteller and ancient historian Dr Juliette Harrisson, host of the Creepy Classics podcast. Each will be followed by a short talk about the story, looking at how Juliette has adapted it, where it comes from, and how it might or might not relate to ancient afterlife belief.
