BFI Comedy Genius: Shaun of the Dead
Being the daughter of Midlands' legend Jasper Carrott, it was highly likely that Lucy Davis would be adept at comedy – and so it proved with her stand-out turn as Dawn in BBC sitcom The Office, closely followed by her role in smash hit 2004 Brit rom-zom-com Shaun Of The Dead.
Davis stars alongside Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Kate Ashfield and Dylan Moran in the story of a hapless electronics store employee named Shaun (Pegg) who spends most of his spare time downing pints at the local pub with his roommate Ed (Nick Frost), Shaun's life seems to fall apart when he is dumped by his girlfriend Liz (Kate Ashfield) on the egging of her friend Dianne (Davis). Things take a turn for the worse when the dead return to stake their claim on the Earth, and it's up to Shaun to keep his cool and prove himself once and for all by successfully rescuing Liz and his mother (Penelope Wilton).
Comedy Genius is a celebration of comedy on screen, led by BFI, the Independent Cinema Office and BFI Film Audience network, supported by funds from the National Lottery.
