Meet the artist - Alan Neilson

Please join us as Alan Neilson talks about his work. Alan's talk conincides with an exhibition of his work in the bar of the Gunmakers Arms. This exhibition is free to attend and will run from 1st to 20th May.

The images that form this exhibition are from two distinct genres: mixed media/image and words, where Alan combine his landscape and photo-journalism images with lyrics from his songs, and also his personal view of the world including a number of black and white infra-red/fish eye panoramic images from the Black Country and the world.

Biography: I am a photographer, musician, author and artist, and have been working for over 30 years. I started my career in 1988 at John Whybrow's, Birmingham's oldest photographers, before going freelance and branching out into landscape photography and as a music photo-journalist for BirminghamLive. Being supportive of the local music scene, I also set up an independent record label, 'elementary recordings' in 2009 releasing albums by local musicians.

You can find our more about Alan and his work by visiting his website You can follow Alan on Twitter via @alanneilson
