This ever-popular musical tells the moving story of widowed school teacher Anna Leonowens, who arrives in Siam (now Thailand) in 1862 to take on the tough job of teaching the many children of the King of Siam. Despite her outrage at the King’s superior attitude towards women, Anna stays and helps him come to terms with the conflict between eastern and western cultures, a mutual respect eventually developing between the two of them. With a talented cast, and the delightful score including “Getting to Know You”, “Something Wonderful” and “Shall We Dance”, this is a performance not to be missed.
