Debasement vs COGnitive Jazz Therapy FREE
DeBasement & COGnitive Jazz Therapy have joined forces to bring you an evening filled to bursting-point with incredible music; come celebrate DeBasment's 1st Birthday by filling your ears with something wholesome.
As somewhat of a departure from the usual Thursday Jazz preceedings; we present a host of local Brum talent, with the evening concluded by our dear friends the legendary Zeitgeist.
Zeitgeist Zeitgeist are a trio based in Leeds. The outfit combine jazz harmony with the rhythmic intensity of progressive rock and metal and perform a set of original material which showcases lengthy improvised sections, melodic hooks and intense grooves. Since the band's inception Zeitgeist have firmly established themselves on the Leeds music scene and now grace our stage for the 3rd time.
“'You remember that time you asked your math teacher the question “when am I ever going to use this math in real life?”. Well, the answer I have for you is now. To avoid your head exploding while listening to Zeitgeist’s new track, “Thantos.”'- Too Much Love Mag
The Mothers Earth Experiment Having recently garnered a cult following supporting prog, jazz and psych legends including Nik Turner, Roy Babbington, John Etheridge, Theo Travis and Arthur Brown. The Mothers Earth Experiment return to Debasement in their Cogs bar début; their psychedelic sounds are sure to send you hurtling through the cosmos and leave you smouldering.
Beyond the Summit Rising from the ashes of it's previous incarnation, sonic cruisaders Beyond the Summit return with a new rhythm section comprised of renowned Jazz Drummer Jim Bashford and Bassist Ashley Trigg (Fist Full of Dynamite, Husk et al.). They will be premièring a variety of composed and improvised pieces.
...and Upstairs, Nurses. "It has authentic latin-jazz, noodle guitar techniques birthed from a different location, and some more melodic ways of stringing together eccentric chords overlayed over even more bizarre rhythms . . . Every concept and musical idea seems right on cue and never seems to shift or break the laws of gravity. The transitions are always smooth and fluid no matter how square and choppy the two colliding riffs were.” – Spread, Track Record Dece Mustings (review) https://andupstairsnurses.bandcamp.com/
With Special Guests Shōkunin Jazz-soul four-piece. An interesting blend of post-rock instrumental melodies and hip-hop rhythms that are bound to keep you moving.
