Birmingham Food Drive - Helping the Homeless FREE
The first Birmingham Food Drive of 2017 is taking place in April.
Various individuals, volunteers, groups and organisations are coming together on Saturday 8th April, 2017, to prepare, pack and distribute food, blankets, toiletries and warm clothes to those in need in Birmingham city centre.
Activities will begin from 12pm and continue through the evening until around 5pm at Carrs Lane Church, Birmingham.
Volunteers can participate at any point throughout the day and help. Preparations at the venue will begin at 9am, before food distribution from 12pm.
There will be hot cooked food prepared for distribution as well as packed cold foods and snacks.
We primarily need 'many hands to make light work' but anyone wishing to donate food and other items is more than welcome to if they wish.
This is the 6th annual Birmingham Food Drive and an open event where anyone can volunteer to join in to help.
WHAT WE WILL BE DISTRIBUTING: Hot cooked food Dry and tinned foods Pre-packed snacks and cold food Hot drinks and Soup Toiletries Warm Clothing Blankets Sleeping Bags

ACTIVITIES: During the food distribution, we also hope to provide services to those in need, including shelter and assistance awareness and advice, free hair cuts on the day, free health advice and have some light music and arts. The event is open to the homeless, vulnerable, and those who rely on food banks.
This year, the Birmingham Food Drive will be joining forces with the Amirah Foundation, Let's Can Hunger UK and Al-Khair Foundation. We will also hopefully be working with Birmingham Homeless Outreach Charity, The Albert St Project, Who Is Hussain - Birmingham, St Basils, As-Suffa Outreach, Midland Langar Seva Society, Have a "Hart" Help the Homeless!, The Red Bag Co. and various other organisations.
We are all a very diverse and easy-going team of volunteers. All individuals and groups are welcome to come along and help.
We look forward to seeing you there on the day and working together to help the most vulnerable and needy in Birmingham.
