Cadbury World Unwraps New Design Technology Workshop

Cadbury World’s education team has unwrapped its first ever workshop for school pupils wanting to get ahead in the world of Design Technology.

Pupils are being given the chance to take a closer look at over 100 years of fascinating Cadbury packaging designs and work together to create their own Cadbury wrapper.

Participants in the new workshop will be able to find out more about the inspiration and processes behind the designs of some of the most iconic Cadbury chocolate bars and see how the design of the bar is linked to its packaging and advertising.

Visiting schools will also be able to see chocolate moulds from the Cadbury factory before coming up with their own creative packaging designs and presenting them to their fellow students – giving them a mini introduction into how the design process works in real life.

The new Design Technology Workshop, which has launched this term at the Bournville-based attraction, is aimed at secondary curriculum Key Stage 3 Design and Technology pupils, giving them the chance to see how design evolution for Cadbury packaging works, including hands-on creative opportunities.

The historic Birmingham site welcomes more than 2,000 schools and 120,000 students each year through its doors, delivering an extensive portfolio of education talks for teams visiting from across the UK.

The Cadbury World education team works within the attraction’s two dedicated themed educational rooms, helping to bring pupils’ learning to life through interactive and engaging talks and workshops.

Along with the new workshop, there are also a series of specifically designed, one-hour curriculum-linked talks for Key Stage One through to Key Stage Five, with topics covering Business Studies, Geography, Marketing, Bean to Bar and The Maya.

Pupils visiting Cadbury World also have a chance to learn and discover more through the attraction’s chocolatey zones.

School children can travel back 1,000 years to the Aztec Jungle to uncover the origins of the cocoa bean and take a trip down Advertising Avenue to relive some of Cadbury’s most iconic advertising campaigns.

For an extra dose of nostalgia, pupils can head to the popular Chocolate Making zone to watch the talented Cadbury World chocolatiers demonstrate traditional chocolate making skills.
