Crossing Borders

Every generation seems to be given a name - The Silent Generation, The Baby Boomers, Generation X, Millennials and The Windrush Generation to name a few. These labels are supposed to define an age or sum up a collective experience. But what are the real differences between different generations? And what do they have in common?

The Young REP 18-25 Company and Young REP Lightpost explore the shifts in generational attitudes through a new devised piece of theatre. Act One will revisit the start of modern British multiculturalism through the lens of the Windrush, the ship that carried the first Caribbean migrants to the UK in 1948. Act Two will use real-life intergenerational interviews as a starting point to explore how experiences, opinions and options have changed over time.
