IDAHOBiT 2018 At Birmingham LGBT

International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBiT) is marked annually on the 17th of May globally.

It is also the date that the World Health Organisation (WHO) removed homosexuality from the International Classification of Diseases and declassified it as a mental health disorder.

The day is aimed at promoting tolerance for all regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. This year’s theme is “Alliances For Solidarity”.

To mark the day, Birmingham LGBT will hold a curry and film event from 6pm-9pm at the Birmingham LGBT Centre.

We will meet at the Pagoda for 6pm for a community vigil to commemorate the occasion, after which we will move to the Holloway’s Café for a curry and film evening with a special IDAHOBiT screening of Hanif Kureishi’s ‘My Beautiful Launderette.’
