African Drumming Workshop - Intermediate / Advanced Level


This is a series of new African Drumming Workshops, led by a local Senegalese musician, Vieux Bakayoko, held in Birmingham.

Level: Each session will be aimed at Intermediate to Advanced level. Previous experience of playing djembe is essential.

Dates: Dates booked so far are: January 2018: - Saturday 13th - Saturday 20th - Saturday 27th February 2018: - Saturday 3rd - Saturday 10th - Saturday 17th - Saturday 24th

Cost: £10 per person (Payment - cash on the day please)

About The Teacher: Vieux is a talented musician and performer, originally from Senegal, West Africa. He is a master of the djembe, and he has taught and performed around the World. Vieux has built up a strong profile since relocating to the UK, including performing with the Royal Shakespeare Company, performing at WOMAD, teaching at Drum Camp, and many more festivals, as well as teaching regular workshops in London, and elsewhere. He is a skillful teacher and will be focusing on traditional Malinke rhythms from West Africa.

Venue: A professional dance studio, run by ACE Dance and Music, a national touring dance company based in Digbeth, Birmingham UK.

Parking: There is street parking in the lanes around the venue.

Instruments: Please bring your own djembe drum. If you do need to borrow a drum, please contact us in advance of the day.

This class will not be suitable for beginners.
