Birmingham is synonymous with the Mod Scene with both the Spencer Davis Group and the Move, just two of the excellent bands to hail from the second city in the sixties. Throughout the eighties and early nineties Birmingham was a hotbed for the Mod scene with clubs like the Outrigger giving the opportunity to make regular visits from London Capitol to enjoy the fun.
After a three year break the New Untouchables return in Summer 2012 with a brand new Mod Weekender event right here at the Custard Factory.
All musical events take place at the fabulous www.70-eight.com which looks very sixties space age design (check out the gallery), with three floors and two rooms of music with tasty sound systems. The venue has a capacity of 400 people with a record bar, market and chill out area on the middle floor.
The daytime event includes a market, scooter run and competition plus an open decks Dj session.
The evening event hosts DJ’s from half a dozen clubs from around the East and West Midlands along with with NUTS DJ’s Rob Bailey and Birmingham based local legend Pid. On Sunday we see local heroes from Coventry, the Sorrows, featuring the charismatic Don Fardon on lead vocals live along with the excellent Bongolian.
