Jacob Banks is a 20 year old soul singer from Birmingham destined for big things in 2012. Having worked with Plan B in 2011, and playing the Birmingham leg of the MOBO 2012 tour, Jacob is now working with the industry’s top songwriters.

Jacob’s sound is pure, timeless soul. Influenced by the likes of Marvin Gaye, Sam Cooke, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder and Curtis Mayfield. Performing with his backing band The Blue Wolves, at the Yardbird, is a great opportunity for Jacob’s home crowd to catch him on the way up and enjoy a night of authentic soul music.

"A blend of toe-tapping Americana, banjos, Chili Peppers guitars and country-inflected Jack White vocals: more than your average Leeds wannabes" - Vibrations Magazine

Vanessa Knight is a glamorous, multi-talented singer/songwriter/pianist/loop-master. Her unique performances have been wowing audiences in Holland and Norway. Her sell out Edinburgh Fringe Festival shows received 5 star ratings in 2010 and 2011. Locally she has performed at the Rainbow, The Jam House and Stirlings Bar. Vanessa’s ballads provide touching lyrics, beautiful windswept melodies, delicate piano and layered backings. Her uplifting songs provide memorable hooks, sometimes performed using a mind boggling array of instruments. Of ‘Love you More’ Dave Giles, musician, said, "I have never seen anyone play more instruments in one song". Others say it’s “sunshine in a song”.

George Gadd spins urban fairytales; drawing together the acoustic, troubadourial leanings of Springsteen and Dylan.

James Hough is a singer-songwriter from West London. His inspirations range from the likes of Sigur Ros and later Neil Young, crafting moody folk with atmospheric vocals and spine tingling guitar harmonics.

Every Sunday, Birmingham Promoters present an evening of eclectic music.
