UNIQUE
The most jazzy piece of acoustic hip hop making her mark more than just the treble clef on her face.
VELVET ENGINE
What began as a side-project of the backing singer and multi-instrumentalist of Alice Room, Katie Malco and My First Tooth, has now evolved into something much more tangible. Velvet Engine, the brainchild of Latino Northamptonian San-D Godoy, emerged enthusiastically into our lives and our hearts at the start of 2008, touring the lower UK on and off throughout the year. She went on to Australia travelling and playing gigs around the country for a year expanding her fanbase. After numerous positive reviews, tours and radio airplay, she has returned to the UK, introducing new member Matt Philpotts and they are busy working on the long-awaited debut release of a collection of songs which have been described as "Yearning Pop Folk, with a sprightly but reflective soul". Counting Laura Marling, The Beatles and Fleet Foxes amongst their many influences. We can expect great things from this new breed of heart-warming pop folk music and Velvet Engine will be sure to drive it in the right direction with their catalogue of honest yet timid and catchy songs."
REDACTIONS
The Redactions are the hottest new rock and pop band in the West Midlands, covering songs from Arcade Fire to Snow Patrol to Lady GaGa to The Verve. They burst onto the scene at Fabric, London, in May 2010 and are now gearing up for an action packed year of gigs in bars and at functions across the UK and Ireland. So if you need a raucous but cool, scintillating sound at your event, get in touch. The Redactions.
Every Tuesday evening, The Yardbird welcomes three top quality acoustic and stripped down bands playing original material and quirky covers, hosted by Jason Pegg, followed by an open mic from 10pm. To register for the open mic, please see Jason at the sound desk before 9pm for a slot.
