An Anglo-Saxon Extravaganza FREE

Throughout the day Anglo-Saxon soldiers will be roaming through the galleries ready to meet you and talk about the Anglo-Saxon period. A metalsmith will also be on hand to demonstrate traditional techniques by making copper foils. Or, if you want to try your hand at conserving real objects, meet our Conservation team who will teach you some of the techniques they used to clean the Staffordshire Hoard in the early stages of its discovery. Julia Hyland, a theatrical and historical make-up artist, will also be on hand to give you an authentic battle scar at a small cost of £1.50 per scar.
