Michael Kiwanuka, The Staves

With Michael Kiwanuka, it’s all about the voice; a voice that hits straight through to the core with direct, emotional songs about love, yearning, comfort and belonging. After quickly building up a following via MySpace and small London gigs, Paul Butler from The Bees invited Michael to the band’s Isle of Wight studio, here they laid down the introductory tracks that make up his debut EP ‘Tell Me A Tale’. A record that is so Real, raw and achingly beautiful, that it could only have come from Britain in 2011.
