Macbeth, 29 Oct 2011 - 12 Nov 2011

29 Oct 2011 - 12 Nov 2011 - Theatre at Crescent Theatre

The simplicity of the story of Macbeth’s downfall from beloved officer to ruthless tyrant belies the complexity of the human tragedy that Shakespeare breathes into his characters.

This dramatic and exciting production never forgets that Macbeth and his wife are people caught in the midst of horrible and terrible situations.

See Shakespeare’s bloodiest and most notorious tragedy in the gut-wrenching proximity of the Crescent’s studio setting.

Shakespeare Schools Festival , 31 Oct 2011 - 4 Nov 2011

31 Oct 2011 - 4 Nov 2011 - Theatre at The Old Rep Theatre

The National Theatre challenges the preconception that studying Shakespeare is difficult, dry or dull through a combination of teacher training, workshops and student performance in a local professional theatre. The aim of the charity is to promote articulacy and through that confidence and empowerment in our young people. Family and friends are invited to celebrate an evening's professional entertainment with four youthful half hour productions of different Shakespeare plays.

Astronaut, 4 Nov 2011

4 Nov 2011 - Theatre at The Public

Part of a double bill with Sam Halmarack & the Miserablites

A short performance by Bristol Theatre company Sleepdogs.

A journey far away into the vast dark emptiness of space, this amazing piece of theatre uses simple storytelling, precise lighting and sound design to push the imagination way into outerspace.

Sleepdogs is a collaboration between writer/composer Timothy X Atack and producer/director Tanuja Amarasuriya, that work with stories, hybrid genres and prompts to the imagination, using theatre, film and anything else that might possibly work.

Stevenage — the first English New Town — is an unlikely subject, but it’s a performance which beautifully explores many interlinked lives — the ‘young man in the brown corduroy suit’, an English pastoral poet, a young woman who moved south in the early years of the 20th century, a young film actor, a town, two villages and the lives of a post-war generation.

Francesco’s music interests and qualifications range from twelve years studying percussion at the Milanese conservatory, to a degree in music marketing and artist promotion. Federico on the other hand started as a label founder, later deciding to follow his true passion moving to New York to start playing in underground clubs immediately making a name for himself.

Their music is driven by anything varying from 80’s disco music to chugging techno. There sound is mainly characterized by bouncy and decisive analog bass lines combined to rhythmic drum patterns, all mainly inspired by music from the 60’s 70’s and 80’s
