From Saturday May 1st through to Sunday May 16th, fizzPOP and guests will be in residence at The Lombard Method.

fizzPOP is a hackerspace: it provides an infrastructure for makers of all varieties to meet up and share skills, tools and inspiration in a social, collaborative environment. fizzPOP holds regular, informal hack sessions at The Edge, as well as a roaming programme of events and workshops centred around the creative use – and misuse – of all sorts of technology.

During their residency at The Lombard Method, fizzPOP will work in a similar manner, but explore the shifts in scale (size, number, duration etc) possible with access to space over an extended period of time.

The residency will be launched with an open invitation for people to come and join them in constructing a Heath Robinson style contraption in the studios.

The event is free – just drop in any time between 12 and 6pm on Saturday 1st of May – but please bring something along to contribute to the build. Toilet roll tubes, an old umbrella, a football…

  • cardboard, lots and lots of cardboard!
  • tubes and drainpipes
  • umbrellas
  • strings
  • springs
  • magnets
  • buckets
  • wheels
  • marbles
  • golf balls
  • footballs
  • balloons
  • plastic sheeting or tapaulin
  • lego
  • any other toys or tracks
  • miscellaneous items and fancy goods

We’ll no doubt have some electronic gubbins and we’ll also have a basic tool-kit including glue gun and gaffa tape.
