The British Black Classical Foundation announces the inaugural Voice of Black Opera, an international biennial competition for singers of black and Asian heritage from across the Commonwealth. Professional singers, or those in their final year of study, are invited to audition for a place in the Grand Final to be held at the Great Hall, Birmingham University, UK on 31 October 2009, 19:30. Seven singers will be brought, all expenses paid, to Birmingham to perform in the Final in front of a highly respected Judging Panel including the legendary African-American mezzo and soprano Grace Bumbry, Detroit born, soprano Maria Ewing and virtuoso pianist, composer and broadcaster Julian Joseph.
