Rupert Luck violin with Daniel Swain piano

In his inaugural lecture as Peyton Professor of Music at the University of Birmingham (1905), Elgar said of fellow-composer Parry that “his name shall always be spoken in this University with the deepest respect and I will add, the deepest affection … with him no cloud of formality can dim the healthy sympathy and broad influence he exerts and we may hope may long continue to exert upon us.” Parry’s complete sonatas for violin and piano are recorded on Rupert Luck’s first CD, recently released.
