Sitar: Shalil Shankar Tabla: Pritam Singh Anurekha Ghosh & Company
A classical music and dance performance by some of the world’s most renowned artists, who have come together with the charitable organization ‘Friends of Damat’, to help raise funds for an English school in the remote village of Neral in Maharaster, India. Shalil Shankar is the foremost disciple of Ravi Shankar and is accompanied on tabla by the ‘Pride of Birmingham’, Pritam Singh. These master musicians perform together for the first time since the turn of the Millennium; a magical chemistry which mesmerized audiences across the globe in the nineties. Anurekha Ghosh Dance Company was formed in 2001 with the desire to communicate the beauty and emotional intensity of North Indian classical Kathak dance with a contemporary edge.
