Poetry Translation Centre Tour
English poetry changed for good when its poets absorbed the influence of the Europeans and the Russians. The Poetry Translation Centre wants to see what happens when English poets meet their non-European counterparts. As the PTC’s World Poets’ Tour visits Birmingham, Noshi Gillani (from Pakistan) reads her poems and new English translations by Lavinia Greenlaw; and Farzaneh Khojandi (from Tajikistan) reads with her translator, the captivating British poet, Jo Shapcott. This lively and entertaining reading reveals the dynamic nature of the poets’ cultures and rich literary traditions. English poetry will change before your very eyes!
