Punch Records are thrilled to welcome New York's Hypnotic Brass Ensemble on their maiden UK voyage as a headline act. A band that has to be seen live to be believed, HBE comprise eight brothers, all sons of former Sun-Ra trumpeter Phil Cohran, plus drummer "360". They deliver a unique and exhilarating sound, mixing jazz, afropop, funk, soul and R&B with a powerful hip-hop sensibility. After building a fearsome reputation in the US for their guerrilla gigs on the streets of Chicago and NY, the band have been touring clubs and venues around Europe, most recently storming the UK on dates with Mos Def.
They are joined tonight by Bass Clef, another true original and festival favourite. Hailing from Bristol's eclectic dubstep scene, this one-man sensation uses trombones, pirate flags, and a maelstrom of hand-percussion to devastating effect.
